Ice Sheets’ mission is to democratize ice hockey by creating increased access and opportunity for people to participate in the sport.

We are achieving this by building a full service, eco-friendly, low-cost synthetic ice rink network in all climates across North America.

Initial Capital Costs

Initial Capital Costs

  • An average single surface rink can cost $5M-$10M to build.
  • Real estate alone can cost several millions.

  • An initial requirement of 12,000 to 15,000 gallons of water.
  • Typical rink requires the need for water, coolants, compressors, condensers, pipes, special ventilation, humidity control, major supplies, and additional equipment.

Recurring Costs

Recurring Costs

  • Water & Electricity: Water replacement due to the loss of resurfacing, dehydrating, and melting. Local water and electricity companies will naturally continue to raise prices over the years due to inflation.
  • Heating & Cooling Costs: The heating the arena while there is a massive block of refrigerated ice challenging the work of your HVAC system is a costly endeavour.
  • Labor Costs: A traditional hockey arena requires specialized vendors, plumbers, technicians, electricians, Zamboni drivers etc.
  • Maintenance Costs: A traditional rink requires a full-time maintenance crew to clean the ice surface between time slots, control temperature and humidity, upkeep the facility and provide equipment maintenance.
  • Repairs: Arenas require the constant need for repair supplies, issues resulting from fluid leaks, surprise breakdowns that need immediate repair, etc.
